Originally from Westchester County, Dr. Porter received his degree in history and biochemistry from Yale University before teaching science in Brooklyn for two years. He graduated from the medical school at SUNY/Stony Brook, and completed his pediatric residency at the Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He was in private practice for almost 6 years in Pittsburgh before joining us in 2006. His wife, Melinda, is a pediatric hematologist/oncologist at Goryeb Children's Hospital. They have two children, Matthew and Charlotte.
